The following is from Amy, an Oakwood Club member:
—————————————————-
I am not a true nudist. My husband is, and that’s why we belong to The Oakwood Club. My first experience with nudism was at Mazo Beach on the Wisconsin River. I knew my husband enjoyed nudism; he had experienced it when he was younger, and he suggested we visit Mazo Beach. I wasn’t thrilled about it, but because I knew he wanted to go, I agreed. It was a very freeing experience. I did not get totally naked, only topless, but no one cared. We visited several more times over the years, and each time I enjoyed it more than the last.
The drive to Mazo Beach from where we lived was six hours. A long way to go to be nude. My husband started researching nudist places closer to home, and he found Oakwood. Now, I still wasn’t too keen on being totally naked around other people. He said Oakwood was clothing optional, meaning you can be a member, but you don’t have to be nude all the time. He wanted to go visit, and I agreed. Of course, he got completely naked on our first visit! I did not. I was not ready for that. Anyway, we had so much fun that day! The people we met were so incredibly friendly and fun that it wasn’t about the nudism at all. We joined the next week and have been members ever since.
To this day, I am still not a true nudist. Matter of fact, I am rarely fully nude at any point while I am at Oakwood, except in the pool, of course, where it’s required. I feel totally accepted at Oakwood, and no one makes mention of the fact that I usually wear clothes when I’m there. Again, it’s not about the nudism but more so about the community Oakwood strives to maintain. It is a wonderful place to belong. I hope you will consider visiting sometime!
You are not a nudist? I must admit I never really thought about it! But, there are others that are never completely nude. That goes to show you, that whether you are a nudist or not , doesn’t matter. I must admit, I am a full on nudist, but I understand those who aren’t, and appreciate their acceptance of us nudes, and their part in the Oakwood community.
